The last day to register to vote before the Aug. 2 primary election is July 6. The last day to mail out an absentee ballot is July 20—absentee voting will continue in the office until Aug. 1, reported Dent County Clerk Angie Curley during Thursday’s regular commission meeting at 9 a.m. in the Dent County Courthouse.

• Presiding commissioner Darrell Skiles wanted to remind citizens that the Ozark Solid Waste Management District grant is available to support waste reduction and recycling projects. Also, the courthouse will be closed July 4 in observance of Independence Day and no commission will be held. The next commission meeting is a special meeting Wednesday to open bids on courthouse exterior repairs.

• District One commissioner Wes Mobray reported that he has a crew grading County Road 5600, brush cutting on County Road 6510 and servicing truck no. 77.

• District Two Commissioner Gary Larson reported that he has crews cutting brush on County Road 3260, repairing chip and seal on county roads 3260 and 3280, replacing a sign on County Road 2200 and hauling rock to stock pile.
